Your Opportunity as a Summer Analyst in Bank Resource Management

An overview of this program’s objectives and how you can benefit

The Summer Analyst Program in Bank Resource Management
How the program works and the day-to-day experience you can expect

The ten-week Bank Resource Management (BRM) Summer Analyst Program provides an opportunity to experience the culture and atmosphere of Morgan Stanley while learning about one of the fastest growing areas of the business. You will obtain hands-on experience as we facilitate borrows and loans to our hedge fund clients.  Summer Analysts joining Bank Resource Management will participate in a ten-week program alongside Sales & Trading Summer Analysts.

As you are the future leaders of our business, our team, from senior managers to new full time Analysts, dedicate their time to ensure you have a rewarding experience that allows you to maximize your capabilities.  Please note that the Bank Resource Management (BRM) Summer Analyst Program is the main opportunity for college graduates to receive an offer as a full-time Analyst within Bank Resource Management, as the division does not actively participate on campus for full-time analyst recruiting.

Morgan Stanley's BRM internship program is a ten-week rotational program, beginning with a week of training. Responsibilities will vary depending on your rotation through our various desks:

  • Domestic and International Equity Trading: Borrow securities from the world's largest lending institutions and assist in lending functions to our hedge fund clients.
  • Fixed Income: Learn how Morgan Stanley uses Repo products to finance the firm.
  • Sales and Marketing: Evaluate client portfolios and perform analysis on business opportunities.
  • Risk Management: Assist in determining exposure to our various counterparties.

In addition to daily responsibilities on the trading desk, Analysts will be assigned a summer-long project and trading simulation, which is presented to senior management.

Analysts will have the opportunity to interact with colleagues during social events, including weekly lunches with senior managers, both from securities lending and other areas of the firm.  Mentors are assigned to each Analyst as a person they meet with regularly for guidance during the program.

Developing Your Career
What you can anticipate as you make progress and after completing the program

At Morgan Stanley, Summer Analysts begin with a one-day orientation to the firm where they are introduced to the firm's businesses and learn about what it is like to be an employee at Morgan Stanley.  Bank Resource Management (BRM) Summer Analysts then attend divisional specific training where they learn core skills essential to a successful summer.  The curriculum includes daily market updates, business-specific overviews, and basic product and technical training.  After training, Summer Analysts will get hands-on experience and work alongside experts within our industry during the rotational program.  The structure of the Summer Program will allow you to gain a broad understanding of the business and the role of an Analyst.

Summer Analysts will learn how they are progressing during the summer through an evaluation process with their managers, recruiting program leaders and/or Human Resources. Interns will also be encouraged to share feedback on their experience during the summer.

At the end of the summer, every exceptional Summer Analyst has the opportunity to receive a full-time offer.  The Bank Resource Management (BRM) Summer Analyst program has been a successful source for full-time Analysts, who join us upon completion of their senior year of college.
